| While these two images feature in the Lightning Dance Lessons, they were created using photographs taken here in Australia. I would like to thank the Wardan Aboriginal Cultural Centre for allowing me to use photos of their Wardandi dances - in return, these images have been produced as a series of postcards for sale at the Aboriginal Cultural Centre in Yallingup Western Australia |

| Back in 2004 I was deeply honored to get to know and work with Boe "Many Knives" Glasschild. Of Native American background, Boe describes himself as a black Choctaw, and lives life according to shamanic tradition. His Indian name, "Bvsh polawa" means Many Knives, in Choctaw. He explains that a knife is a tool, and he has many tools. His father was Blackfoot, African and Cherokee, but his mother was Choctaw, and he is aligned with that tribe. I worked firstly on the cover art for his book "The Shores Within" and then created a series of artwork to illustrate his Lightning Dance Pathway Lessons (soon to be published in book form). My work with Boe involved meeting and spending time with Celeste Allegrea Adams at Creatrix Studio in Los Angeles. During 2005 I was asked to provide artwork and a book cover for one of Celeste's forthcoming publications, and again, was overwhelmed and excited to be working with such an amazing, interesting and talented woman. In 2005.... I was honoured to receive the Creatrix Studio New Millennium Award for Visionary Art (from the website, and in Celeste's words...)
inspirational and transformative. An internationally recognized visionary artist, Wendy Slee has created the magnificent images that accompany the Lightning Dance Pathway, featured online at Creatrix Studio, and in a book slated for publication in 2006......She is our first recipient of Creatrix Studio's 2005 New Millennium Award in Visionary Art." I would like to thank Celeste and Boe for entrusting me with their own creative projects and for providing the wealth of experience, wisdom, personal satisfaction and happiness that came from being involved with them. |
